Drew M. Slone
Drew Slone is an Associate in the Corporate Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Ms. Slone’s practice is concentrated in public finance, economic development and
bonds. She has served as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriter’s counsel
and trustee’s counsel for tax-exempt and taxable financings, including general obligation
bonds, revenue bonds and tax anticipation notes. Ms. Slone has also served
as company counsel for tax-exempt financings for 501(c)(3) organizations and as
counsel to several Georgia development authorities. Ms. Slone has additional experience
with economic development bond transactions and incentives negotiation. Ms. Slone also has experience representing corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions and representing financial institutions.
Ms. Slone is a member of the Junior League of Atlanta and volunteers with Grady
Hospital, the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and the Pro Bono Partnership.
Ms. Slone is a member of the 2012 Class of Leadership Dekalb. She was a member of the 2009 class of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s Destiny Fund, a leadership development program for women identified as emerging philanthropists. Slone is also a member of the Board of Directors of Girls on the Run Atlanta and the Board of Directors of the Feminist Women’s Health Center, where she serves as Development Chair.
Prior to joining Smith, Gambrell & Russell, Ms. Slone worked as staff in the Kentucky
Legislative Research Commission and in the Office of the Speaker of the House of
Representatives in North Carolina.
Ms. Slone received her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, in Political Science from
Transylvania University. She earned her J.D. degree, with honors, from the University
of North Carolina, where she was Senior Staff for the North Carolina Law Review. Ms.
Slone is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the National Association of Bond
Lawyers, the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association and the Georgia
Economic Developers Association.
