Babette L. Ashley
Babette L. Ashley is a Partner in the Jacksonville office of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Ms. Ashley concentrates her practice primarily in the areas of real estate and transactional law, with an emphasis on growth management, land use, zoning, planning, permitting, concurrency, developments of regional impact, government relations and environmental law. She is a registered State and local lobbyist.
In 1995, Ms. Ashley served on the Mayor’s Transition Team for the City of Jacksonville. She has also served as an appointed member of Jacksonville’s Civil Service Board since 1995. Ms. Ashley was recognized by Jacksonville Magazine in 2008 as one of the “most prominent” lobbyists in Northeast Florida and as a Best Lawyer of 2010 in the areas of Zoning, Planning and Land Use. Ms. Ashley was listed in the 2010 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in the area of Real Estate. She has served on the Board of Directors; and as Secretary of the American Cancer Society, Duval County Unit, she has chaired numerous non-profit committees and events and contributes to many local charities and causes.
Ms. Ashley received her B.A. degree from Wellesley College in 1978 and an M.A. degree from Middlebury College in 1979. She completed doctoral course work with Middlebury College at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany from 1979 to 1981, and received a J.D. degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1983. She is currently admitted to The Florida Bar.
